Bill and Pat have been business partners for over 20 years, Mara Poling being their third venture together. Bill came to Pat in the summer of 2013 with an idea – at the time, both were principles in a national asset management firm. They had spent the last 10 years acquiring and managing over $1 B in real estate for their clients – large investment firms, Fortune 50 companies, and 2 of the nations largest REITs, Pat as President and Bill as Vice-President. Experts in their respective fields, time proven partners with a track record of great success, they decided the time was right to bring their “Wall Street” level expertise to “Main Street” investors.

Bill and Pat founded Mara Poling in 2014, leveraging their 60+ years of real estate and investment expertise to build a growing portfolio of Multi Family assets. Their most recent addition to the portfolio is a two property portfolio purchased in late 2015 – 400+ doors @ $25M.
Pat Poling is the Founder and CEO of Mara Poling. He leads Mara Poling’s client relations, legal, finance and accounting teams. His decades of finance, asset management, and executive leadership experience are invaluable to the team. Prior to Mara Poling, Pat was President and CEO of The Lyle Company for over a decade. His leadership enabled the team to generate more than $1B in value for their clients each year.
Pat began his real estate career over 35 years ago with AT&T, followed by leadership roles with two start-ups, McCaw Cellular (eventually purchased by AT&T) and American Tower. Both grew more than 10 fold during his tenure.
Pat leads the team from Mara Poling’s Northern California office. He and his wife make their home in Folsom, California. He is a private pilot and avid outdoorsman. In addition to his BA in Finance from Loyola Marymount University, he did his masters work at the University of San Francisco in Organizational Development (abt).
Bill Mara is the Founder of Mara Poling and leads the acquisition and operations teams. His more than 30 years of real estate investment, development, and operations experience are essential to the team’s success. He possesses a depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding, particularly in the Multi Family space that Mara Poling operates in.
Bill began his real estate career in 1985 when he founded Mara Construction, a residential and commercial construction company. Here he learned the essentials of managing multiple projects to on time and on budget completion, while keeping his clients satisfied. Bill seized greater and greater responsibilities with leadership positions in several development and management firms, acquiring, developing, and managing assets totaling $100M+, before partnering up with Pat at AT&T. Prior to Mara Poling, Bill was Vice President of The Lyle Company for more than a decade.
Bill leads the team from Mara Poling’s headquarters in Dallas. He and his wife live in nearby McKinney, Texas. He is active in his church and regularly travels abroad on m Missions to Africa, Asia and other destinations.
